At Blaydon West Primary School, we place a great emphasis on the importance of our children being able to consider and respond to a range of important questions relating to their own spiritual development, the development of values and attitudes and fundamental questions concerning the meaning and purpose of life.

• Teaching a variety of world religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Humanism

• Expose children to the practise of religion either by visiting places of worship or through visitors who share effective and relevant experiences of their religion.

In Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, children study the Gateshead Agreed Syllabus for RE and we aim to:

• Encourage children to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of beliefs and practices in the community and wider world
• Promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
