Durham Oriental Museum visit Blaydon West!
Year 5 have spent the whole day with a member of staff from the Durham Oriental Museum finding out all about the Anglo-Saxons. We have explored many different artefacts from this time period and became archaeologists to find out what we thought they were.
We then spent time looking at and exploring the Lindisfarne Gospels; looking for clues hidden in images as well as looking at a copy of the book worth £20,000! After that, we had a go at creating artwork based on the images we studied. We did this using the techniques used when the Gospels were created by using a quill and ink. To sign our artwork we used Uncial script which was used in the Lindisfarne Gospels.
