    Year 5 mental health week

    Year 5 have been learning about the importance of mental health and different ways we can promote a positive mental health. They were then set a challenge to create a playground game that promotes a positive mental health and could be lead by our playground leaders on the yard.

    Boys Football Team​​​​​​​

    Our Year 5 and 6 boys football team had a fantastic time today in the premier league football competition. Lots of goals were scored and they had amazing team work, which helped them to be a superb team. Well done boys!

    Exploring Space at The Great North Museum

    This week a Year 5 took part in a workshop at The Great North Museum all about the Moon and its role. We discovered how the moon influences the tides and how animals have adapted to survive in intertidal environments.

    Sun dials in Science

    Last week we looked at how day and night is created. We made our own sun dials and predicted where the shadow would be at 3pm. After taking our sundials out in the yard, we realised our predictions weren’t quite right!

    How were the Anglo-Saxons able to see off the Viking threat?

    In year 5 we created living graphs to show when the Vikings had control over England and when the Anglo-Saxons had fought back to gain control again. We discussed the reasons for this by looking at the events that happened at that time.
