Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and would like to wish you and your family a good year in 2019!

I have loved listening to the stories about the Christmas festivities and what everyone has been getting up to.

I am delighted that the children have settled back into their routines and are working really hard.

Congratulations Miss McNally: Miss McNally gave birth over the holidays to a baby girl. We are delighted as we sure you are for her and look forward to her visiting.

Assemblies: This term’s assemblies have been posted on the school website.  As mentioned previously this term’s assemblies will take place in the morning.  The assembly time is 9.10am.  We look forward to seeing you all at your child(ren)’s assemblies.  Our first assembly this term is our Year 6 assembly which is on Friday, 25th January.

Calendar: We will update the school website with calendar dates as soon as we have them – please remember to check these as, due to unforeseen circumstances, we sometimes have to change dates.  We do however, try to give as much notice as possible.

Contact details: Have you received a new phone over the Christmas break?  If so can you please inform the school office if you have new contact details.  It is really important that they are kept up to date – failure to do this, and should something occur where we cannot contact you, could mean contact being made with Social Services.

Dinner Money must be paid for in advance of meals taken. We cannot provide meals and have the debt paid at a later date. Our Dinner Money policy is on the school website should you wish to refer to it.  Can I take this opportunity to remind parents/carers that children should make their choice between school dinners and packed lunches on a Monday morning and that they must stay with this choice for the full week.  They can then change their choice on the following Monday should they wish to change.  Many thanks for your co-operation with this.

YEAR 6 UNIVERSITY VISIT: Year 6 have been given a wonderful opportunity today when they visited Northumbria University to learn about what life at University is like!  They have taken part in some exciting challenges and spoken to current University students.  Hopefully, this will give them a greater knowledge of University life and encourage them to work hard so they have that choice  when the time comes!

MESSY CHURCH – Alison and Catherine have asked me to let you know about Messy Church which will be held this Sunday, 11th January between 3.00pm and 5.00pm. Come and join them and have lots of fun doing crafts, playing games, singing action songs, decorating biscuits, reading Bible stories celebrating Creation plus you can also enjoy a lovely meal! This is free of charge but donations are welcome.  All children from babies to age 12 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. They look forward to seeing you there.

Head Lice: Head lice can be found at any time of the year.  Can you please check your child(ren)’s hair regularly and take the appropriate action should eggs or live lice be found.

Attendance: This week’s attendance is 95.6% which is just below our attendance target.  Congratulations to Year 2 who had 100% attendance.  Hopefully, the viruses we currently have circulating around school will end and our attendance will improve next week!
