As part of our “There’s No Place Like Home” topic, Year One visited Preston Hall to gain a better understanding of what home life was like during the Victorian era. The first workshop that the children took part in was based around household objects. First Joanne (our helper for the day) provided us all with a bit of background information about Preston Hall i.e. what it was like during the Victorian era. She then introduced a range of artefacts to us, providing descriptions and stories when doing so. The children were then allowed to explore a range of household objects. When doing so, they had to match them to the correct labels based on what they thought the purpose of each item was. Some of us even got dressed up! Take a look for yourself.
