Yesterday Year One continued to develop their design and technology skills through their “build-a-bedroom” project.
Following yesterday’s group discussion regarding where to go next with their creations; the children set to work making lists of the materials that they would need as well as browsing a range of textile/furniture based magazines and catalogues for interior inspiration.
Once they had decided on the furniture and textiles that they would like to make for their “build-a-bedroom” creations they began constructing and creating, purposefully and appealing bedroom products such as curtains, pillows and blankets. Creating such products required the children to select from and use a wide range of tools and materials including felt, fabric, plastic and paper; as well as generate, develop, model and communicate their ideas through talking, drawing, creating mock-ups and, where appropriate, using information and communication technology. Well done everyone!
