Who knew? (Mr Fitzsimons and Mr Brown both knew…) Read on…

On Wednesday our KS2 Christmas Choir made the journey to the Metrocentre for our annual singing escapade. We were met by the wonderful Reverend Canon Lyn Jamieson and her ‘Metrocentre Christmas Security Elves’ who escorted us to the main stage. We were there joined by a talented ensemble of wind musicians from Gateshead Music Service.

Anna Foster from the BBC was there to interview the children, listen to them serenade the crowd and cheer them on with her deep rooted enthusiasm for singing.

That’s where things got interesting. Mr Fitzsimons and Mr Brown both knew that Anna Foster is an extremely accomplished soprano and so in jest invited her to join the children on the stage. Mr Brown was slightly aghast when she accepted the challenge and took her position on the back row. Her 2nd part rendition of Oh Come All Ye Faithful was in the words of the children out of this world. Faith one of our pupils said, “She is absolutely unbelievable – she is so so good – she needs to be on the X Factor!”

A HUGE thank you to Mr Fitzsimons, The Reverend Canon Lyn Jamieson, Anna Foster from the BBC and the Metrocentre staff for giving the children memories that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
