As part of our whole school “Allotment Week”, Year One have been carrying out a range cross-curricular activities related to fruits and vegetables.
On Monday, we visited the school’s allotment to gain a better understanding of where food comes from. Following on from previous activities such as “plants vs animals”, the children explored the school’s plot to try and identify a range of plant produce. From doing so, they were able to find the following: raspberries, blackberries, cucumbers, tomatoes and pumpkins! How fantastic!
Once they had finished picking a selection of the above to take back to school, they then tidied our class bed in preparation for planting our very own fruits and vegetables.
