Today we have been learning what it was like as a Victorian prisoner.

First we had to tear up paper into little pieces. We weren’t allowed to talk, look around or laugh. Some of us patrolled as prison officers to make sure everyone was getting on. We only did this for 5 minutes but the Victorian prisoners would have done it for hours!

Next we had to march in a line in silence holding onto some rope- it was so hard not to talk!

Finally we tasted some gruel- disgusting prison food which would have been eaten for all meals! It really was disgusting!!!

We used all of these experiences to write a diary entry about the day of a prisoner.
