In preparation for creating their very own minibeast fact posters, the children have been exploring a wide range of bug-based books in order to gain a better understanding of the similarities and differences in relation to fiction and non-fiction texts, particularly information texts and how these can help them when researching specific topics and areas of interest.

From doing so, the children were able to identify specific non-fiction text features such as: index pages, contents pages, glossaries, diagrams, labels, sub-headings, titles etc. and, not only use them to help find further information
regarding their chosen minibeasts but suggest ways that they could use these special features themselves.
