Yesterday Year One visited the BALTIC to experience its new exhibitions. The children had so much fun exploring the different art displays, especially the various pieces that focus on refugees and their experiences of leaving their home countries. The creative timelines detailing various people’s journeys to find safety and happiness being of particular interest to the children—even more so when they were given the chance to collaborate and produce their very own chronological creation.
Following their exploration of an exhibit by Monica Bonvicini, they then worked in small groups to create their very own sculptures using a range of construction materials such as plastic piping and wood. Their end products were brilliant. Well done everyone!
