This half term, Year One have been exploring the work of abstract artist—Peter Thorpe.  Peter’s work stems from his love of space exploration and space science. When creating his paintings, Peter first designs a background using various colours and techniques; he then creates a foreground to his pictures, which he do so by painting such things as planets and rockets on top of his eye-catching backdrops.

The children had so much fun exploring Peter’s and their own ideas through a variety of methods such as drawing, chalking and painting. Once they had developed a wide range of art and design techniques, they then planned and created their very own space-themed abstract  artwork. Take a look for yourself…
